Where Modern Meets Historic: Atlanta Home Reveal

I had the highest honor of redecorating the living room, reading room, and foyer, all on the main level of a very historic home in Atlanta, GA. The challenge was to modernize the space without losing the historic charm that permeated the home. I’ve always believed that walls should be a clean canvas of neutral colors so that the art and accessories adorning the room pop. Art with color that seems to draw in or mimic the

wall paint and accessories like pillows that boast texture.

For clients who like plants, they must be functional, bodacious, and green.

Area rugs can accentuate the theme of a room, whether it is traditional, eclectic, modern, or otherwise. In any case, the area rug must serve as art drawn up from the floor and work cohesively with the décor.

Texture, shape, and design are all represented. The Z Chair is a nice artistic and cultural element that contrasts perfectly with the geographic shapes in the area rug and the texture of the blue mudcloth pillow. The wall art, book cover, and other mantle accessories pull the look together.

The clean white fabric works perfectly against the backdrop of the wide, spacious window and honorary bust.

The foyer is simple and clean. It’s the medium between the living room on the right and the sitting room on the left.

The sitting room has the same décor concept with white fabric chairs and sofa, textured pillows, and art that pulls all of the colors together. Windows bring in light that adds an element of brilliance. The same area rug carries the theme of modernism meets historic design from room to room.
