Summer of Hope - Through Purpose

When you truly understand your purpose, you move forward in it – acknowledging extraordinary fear in some cases but pushing past it – pushing through it – thereby unveiling your innateness – your essence – your greatness. Challenge yourself and discover YOU. Evaluate your intentions, listen to your gut, and don’t allow anyone to minimize your ideas! Only YOU have to understand your trajectory because only YOU are meant to walk your path.

Too often we cloak our goals in insecurity and shame, and we mask our positive intentions with the excuse that we don’t have time to nurture our spirits – to allow ourselves our God-given right to grow past the confines of someone else’s goals, aspirations and fulfilled dreams. We expend our time and energy on jobs, sometimes even careers that we hate or have outgrown, instead of expanding our own talents for value.

When will you begin to understand that you are a force to be reckoned with? When will you grant yourself credit for your brilliance and act upon it? When will you realize that living in purpose and on purpose begins the second you begin to place the measure of your worth as more significant than the measure of the time you spend fulfilling someone else’s dream – or worse…neglecting your own?

Don’t spend time negotiating with yourself. Your plan doesn’t have to be perfect to execute, nor does it have to be centered on wealth building. It may be about personal development, spiritual growth, creative expression or environmental stewardship. Whatever your purpose, stop waiting for the perfect moment. Take a good look at YOU, get going and make it happen!

Below are several tips gathered from a variety of sources to make your launch a little easier.

1. Break Tasks into Micro-Steps

When a goal feels overwhelming, procrastination usually follows. Combat this by reducing the next action to something that takes just 5–10 minutes. For example, instead of "write a business plan," make your micro-step "open a blank document and outline three headers". [4, 5]

2. Time-Block Your Calendar

Stop relying purely on motivation or to-do lists. Instead, assign specific actions to your calendar. Treat these scheduled blocks with the exact same level of importance as a doctor's appointment or a mandatory work meeting. [1, 2, 3]

3. Track Your Daily Progress

It's easy to fixate on the gap between where you are and your ultimate goal. Instead, celebrate small victories. Keep a "success journal" to visually chart your progress, which triggers a continuous loop of motivation. [1, 4]

4. Adjust the Plan, Not the Vision

If a specific strategy stalls, do not abandon your overarching goal. Assess the bottlenecks, tweak your approach, and try a completely new method.

5. Double Down on Self-Care

Being proactive requires significant physical and mental energy. Make sure you are maintaining your own "mental game" by getting enough sleep, moving your body, and practicing mindfulness. [4]
