SELF FOCUS

I have 2 reasons for this repost.  1. After an AMAZING 6-day class last week, I am physically exhausted, and I only want to meditate on what I learned a good while longer.

2. The info is a good reminder as we enter the last 5 months of this year!

Enjoy!

Can you believe we are a little over halfway through this year? Have you made the much-deserved decision to dedicate at least one hour per day to your well-being by stretching and exercising? You don’t have to do anything that’s rigorous and intense. You just need to start loving your body, which will in turn support loving your mind.

We are the nurturers of our society, the matrix. We naturally, almost without intent, serve as the foundation of strength, courage and unity in our families. We are the faith keepers, the hope seekers and the embodiment of exponential love. Yet we all too often forsake ourselves. Don’t let the demands of life strip you of self-focus and self-love. Make the time—take the time, just one full hour for YOU each day. It will put you in touch with yourself and empower you to think of new ways to innovate. Research shows that on average, 85% of our daily thoughts are negative. That alone will rob you of incentive and deplete your energy to self-give. But life keeps going and so should you.

Exercise on some level should be a necessity, but if it’s not your thing for whatever reason, define what your hour of self-preservation will be and stick to it. Perhaps it’s working in your garden, reading a book, sipping on hibiscus tea, (I was able to get off of blood pressure medicine by drinking hibiscus tea twice a day – just sayin) or maybe you will relax and spend time meditating on why you are grateful. Whatever you decide to do – just do it.

Below are 5 disciplines I encourage you to incorporate into your daily life that are sure to uplift and empower.

  1. Control your thoughts. Mental dis-ease causes physical disease.

  2. Say at least 1 positive thing about yourself each day and repeat it during the day. This will help you detox your mind and assist with releasing your mind of fear.

  3. Divide your day into sections. Engagement begins at sunup. Schedule time to self-focus before 7a.m. if possible.

  4. Be determined to try something new at least once a week. It could be anything…a new restaurant, museum, skill, etc.

  5. Play fair with yourself. Balance what you do out of necessity and survival with your personal self-love interest. Give equal portions of time to pleasure as you do to work.
