If Nothing Changes Nothing Changes

How many times have we told ourselves lies of comfort that give us permission to remain stagnant, stuck and unmotivated to push our lives forward? We tell ourselves we’re tired. We’re too old. Who cares? I don't feel like it today. And the statement that really paralyzes us is, I'm not ready. Maybe tomorrow.

The truth is we will never feel ready. But it’s important that we get ready. Tomorrow will never come if we don’t. We must reposition ourselves and walk in focus and momentum onto a pathway that utilizes past experiences to support future goals.

Below are 5 tips to improve your trajectory. Change your life for the better now! Let’s go!

  1. Identify your purpose. Who would you be without the roles that currently define you? i.e. wife, mother, etc. I am a writer and orator yesterday, today and always. Who are YOU?

  1. Rethink and Reshape your decisions moving forward. The process of rethinking forces you to challenge your assumptions, mental framework and beliefs about yourself. It answers the why. Reshaping involves adapting or modifying existing choices. It answers what and how. You must do both to successfully achieve and reach positive goals.

  2. Own your identity. If you don’t protect your mind and heart someone else will seek to control them both. Be courageous and always build and exhibit confidence. No one can take what is rightfully yours. They may replicate and duplicate but only YOU can authenticate.

  1. Create your village. Surround yourself with those who support you and remove those who don’t seek your best interest. Don’t be surprised when the ones you “thought” were there for you vanish. An influx of support from your genuine friends will be discovered and found offering constructive criticism and positive energy.

5. Change your narrative today. Engage in daily self-talk that inspires you to make small changes daily. Tell yourself that you deserve to do better. You have something worth doing and/or saying. Then listen to yourself affirm your thoughts out loud. This removes stored negative energy from your mind and body. Your purpose will ultimately help others as new innovators. You may be afraid, but do it anyway!

I’m so inspired by those of you who have had careers that have fueled you with knowledge and graced you with dignity. I’ll be reaching out in the near future to invite you to join me on my podcast.
